Taiwan woman, 62, tells police 'I CUT OFF straying hubby's... '

From Taipei Times

RESCUE officers responding to a midnight emergency call in Taiwan last week were greeted by a horrific sight. They found a 54-year-old man sitting on the sofa in his Kaohsiung apartment, bleeding profusely from his head. The apartment walls were spotted with blood. But when they moved in closer, they saw he was also bleeding heavily between his legs, reported Apple Daily Taiwan. His shorts had been pulwsed down to his knees and his penis had been cut off.

DIED IN HOSPITAL

The victim was quickly bundled in a blanket and taken to the hospital, where he died soon after. His 62-year-old wife turned herself in to the authorities. She had let the officers into the flat, and is believed to have called for help. She told the police that she bashed her husband repeatedly with the handle of a 1m-long pickaxe. The woman claimed she then cut off his penis with a craft knife and flushed it down the toilet bowl. She suffered from depression and had suspected her younger husband of having an affair. They have been married for 20 years and had three children. The couple often quarrelled, the police said, and they had to be called in sometimes. The man sometimes hit her when he was drunk, according to reports. She couldn't take the abuse last week after he scolded and hit her in a relative's house, following a fight. She claimed that he went drinking after that, then came home and had another fight with her.

Later, he sat on the living room sofa to watch television and eventually dozed off. Meanwhile, the woman got enraged as she mulled over what happened. So at about 11pm, she took a pickaxe and hit him 13 times with its handle. Then she cut off 6cm of his penis. She then called for the police and an ambulance crew. Investigations revealed that she was married to the victim's elder brother 30 years ago. They divorced before she remarried the younger brother. She and the family declined to comment on this. A doctor told the Taiwan media that when the victim arrived at the hospital, his vital signs were weak, his skull was fractured and he had other injuries all over his body. Investigators said the victim probably died of injuries to the head, instead of the lower body, but would only be able to confirm this after the autopsy results are out.
